League Information

Who is Vancouver Minor Baseball?

Vancouver Minor Baseball (VMB) has been affiliated with the BC Minor Baseball Association since 1999. Prior to that, we were known for 40 years as Victoria Drive Little League. Check out the Little League District 6 Majors Titles (PDF). Our home park is Nanaimo Park, where we currently run programs from:

  • Blastball (3 - 5 years old)
  • Rally Cap (Under 7 years old)
  • Tadpole (7 - 8 years old)
  • Mosquito (9 - 10 years old)
  • Pee Wee (11 - 12 years old)
  • Bantam (13 - 14 years old)
  • Midget (15 - 17 years old)

The kids all play within their age groups and cannot be moved into an older age group unless their skill level deems it appropriate.

Our emphasis is to introduce the game of baseball in a fun, learning environment while building the individual skills of the players. All age groups up to our Mosquito division will play their games at Nanaimo Park. The Pee Wee and Bantam divisions will play their home games at Nanaimo Park and away games at other Association parks. The Pee Wee and Bantam divisions will be tiered in the spring season where we will play 'A' and 'AA'. We will also offer 'AAA' for Bantam only. The Midget division will only play 'AA'. We also offer summer and fall baseball programs for the enjoyment of the players.

We are strictly a non-profit organization consisting of volunteers who help coach, umpire, run our concession, sit on our executive, maintain our facilities and anything else that is necessary to ensure the continuity of the league. Your registration fees usually include individual and team photos, hats and socks for the kids to keep, usage of uniforms (Blastballers receive a t-shirt to keep), and a league wind up party. Mosquito, Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget registration costs also cover fees for our umpires. All divisions' players must buy their own grey pants due to sizing and wear and tear.

We fundraise on an annual basis to help cover operating shortfalls, administrative costs, and to plan for future projects that will benefit the players at Vancouver Minor Baseball.

Coaching

Coaching at Vancouver Minor can be looked upon as a life experience. You, as the coach, have the ability to teach kids about good sportsmanship, about character, and about sound ethics. You can be looked upon as a role model for your players. You will be looked upon as their friend, their teacher. It should bring a smile to your face when you see them make progress in their skill development, their mental development, and their social development. It is not about winning but about instilling a sense of worth, building of character and molding them into solid citizens who will be the cornerstones of our community's future.

If this sounds like you or you have the desire to help others achieve these goals, then, we are looking for people like you to coach our teams. Please contact a league executive member to apply.

Vancouver Minor will pay for you to reach certification as a coach. Please inquire.

Volunteers

Volunteers are the lifeline of our association. Without them, our league would cease to function. Over the years, we have had the pleasure of so many volunteers who have given up much of their free time during baseball season to help coach, run and stock our concession, rake and prepare our playing fields, sit on the executive committee and anything else that is required to make our league run smoothly and efficiently.

If you are so inclined, and would like to step up to the plate and help, please contact any member of the league executive and advise him/her of your interest.

Without your support, now and in the future, there may not be a program we can provide to our community to help the children enjoy a physical activity, make new friends, learn about teamwork and of course, to have fun!
